Weather
This may have been mentioned previously but a weather system in game would help visualize the impacts of players first-hand.
The current system of looking at the map or graphs and collecting information that way is handy and organised, however, it still feels like the game's environment is fairly static (except for pollution, mass deforestation and debris). Adding physical indicators like rain, snow, fog, haze, etc. would actualize the community's impact on the environment. Seeing the grass turn yellow and brown or the trees and plants wilt if there's a drought - to name a few.
This could be accompanied by a series of weather stations ranging from basic to modern (just like other machines) measuring parameters like temperature, pressure, humidity, rainfall, wind and pollution - similar to an air quality index (perhaps affecting livestock or player skill multipliers) all against time, producing graphs internal to the machine and house the ability to look back in time and assess trends in the weather and climate. Using a series of stations across the world, weather can be forecast with decreasing accuracy over time (but increasing with the number of stations and their tier - to an extent), helping farmers predict when best to plant crops for the most yield; or when to stay inside because of a storm!
If the community does not realise their impacts on the environment, this could add challenges beyond the meteor (which I notice is one of your features to work on) as they try to fix the mess they have made!
