Unique Currency Icons

I believe that icons that are selectable upon creation of new minted currencies could allow for a more diverse world. Reason 1: Allows for more international players, by allowing people to swap things out for the standard dollar symbol, and making Eco just a tiny bit more accepting. Reason 2: Can make for easier use and make currencies more accessible. By being able to tell currencies apart at a glance can make a lot of difference. By being able to just look and see, "Oh this shop takes [example currency]" instead of having to scan the shop page for the currency. Reason 3: It makes seperate currencies just kind of cool. You could possibly allow for a string of characters to be accepted, or you could even allow for a preset list, which could make moderation of this easier. This preset list could even include made-up currency examples like a pictogram of a tree. To further build on this you could make personal credits have a default symbol, which would do just a little bit to encourage them being phased out just a little sooner. Currency icons are an interesting idea, but only as a keyboard input, otherwise it would be considered propaganda, which is not often acceptable in some countries.

StalEF, I do believe there is some merit to this scare, however I don’t believe it’s enough to be concerned about. Even in countries that you imply it could be considered propaganda still allow you to search for the currency. It’s neither propaganda for or against. It can also be mixed with fictional symbols to be more apolitical. That being said, if this were to go through, the symbols included are all at the discretion of the developers.
