Remove mining debris from game.

I'd like to see the whole debris system be removed. I appreciate the idea, but it makes for a tedious gameplay mechanic. It also generates a large amount of server lag. I find that it doesn't add enjoyment to the game, yet consumes server resources and player time. You'll notice that many servers have installed mods to change the system as well. I think that it indicates a general frustration with the mechanic.

We have no plans to remove the debris system and the removal of a whole system is out of scope of this suggestion tracker as well. Having to deal with debris from mining and improving technology and getting the improvements from skill development to reduce its need for manual labour is an intended part of the gameplay and insofar systems are causing performance issues that is a bug and we'd rather fix bugs than work around them. Dynamite will also allow to mine bigger areas quicker, saving time on that. Eco specifically wants to depict labour intensive professions in its gameplay and there is a large variety of choices for a player's profession from very labour intensive to little labour intensive on purpose. Contracts and other means exist to assist further via using the economy to get help for projects. Typically players that don't enjoy such profession wouldn't choose it, but there is many players that do, just as in other games. The suggestion is also missing a proposed solution as to how it should work differently, the creation of debris is a core mechanic of the game and cannot be easily replaced with something else, it is similarly used in other capacity in logging and we generally try to preserve volume and not have objects simply vanish from the game world. If it would for example just drop four stones you need to walk over, that wouldn't fit the game design and remove the need to clear rubble up, removing intended parts of the game balance. Modifications to servers is generally not something we use as any kind of metric, they are common and intended to adjust experiences to personal liking - which naturally goes into all directions, from making the game "easier" to "harder". We appreciate and support this ability, but not every result after a modification is still the game as we have intended it to be played and the resulting improvements to enjoyability are personal ones. For example there is still a lot of servers that make "Big Shovel" the default for even the earliest shovels - this enables terraforming which is intendedly difficult in the early game and as such isn't the experience we want to provide and reduces enjoyability for other players. As such while it is a good solution for certain players, many players never play on such servers. There is also a tendency to be seen that this mostly happens on small servers, e.g. there is many servers for it, but it's not actually reaching the majority of players playing on bigger servers that do not use such changes.

Dennis Scholz thanks for the detailed reply! I think I understand the direction you're going now. I'll keep my suggestions more in line with that. :)

Matt Hesser Note that you can still vote on closed suggestions, we only close suggestions that have very little chance to ever happen for a variety of potential reasons. Such suggestions would need a crazy amount of votes to be revisited, though.
