In my mind this logic should be simply filtered by the "Take All" and "Put All" toggles in a work bench. If I start with "Put All" enabled, and then manually exclude a few: I would expect a the table to enable "put into" for the new storage by default. If I start with "Put All" disabled, and then enable select storages: I would expect the table to disable "put into" for the new storage by default. From a code perspective, that should boil down to a slightly more complicated version of this: storage.putInto = table.putAll; storage.takeFrom = table.takeAll;
Completely with you on that, a setting to choose whether you want new storage to auto-link or not would of course be ideal. But personally I also think that changing the default behavior to not auto-link would be a better approach than the current default-linking. Your production table will actually warn you if it cannot put the produced good anywhere. Whereas your new storage chest will just happily fill with fast spoiling food (that was originally set to go somewhere else). The only disadvantage might be a new player placing the first chest, but I guess given the 'collect resource' warning, it's easy to see what needs to be done (and after that you'll know).
it would be equally annoying when you want all local tables to use the new storage. I wonder if there could be a toggle option when building "Link all nearby tables" and "Don't link any tables".... ?
Shoop de boop true. That Button would Help alot. But in my opinion, the "automatically link to all tables" for storages, aswell for "automatically link to all storages" for tables should be at least reversed entirely. The easy click in the "all" Tabs in the storages overview makes those settings much faster and connected to less hussle, then having to through all tables in you House and fixing the storages every time you place a new one. In the end, a lot of cutomization in that regard would be the best thing. Just let everyone choose what es wants it to be. Such a small change would really save me a bunchof frustration when playing Eco.
A setting to turn this on or off is implemented in Hotfix 11.1.2.
