I like your example - not being spam-whispered for dendro papers, etc. It would also avoid having tons of material being short-sightedly turned into unnecessary papers by someone who just wanted to level their skill (or didn't realize that their basics were not the best choice to use as generic papers). Before v10, I would have hesitated because Gathering Basic papers is currently the only crafting recipe that gives Gathering XP (and without crafting, like rock-crushing, it's a bit of a slog to level up a skill.) But now there are fiber-scutching and clay-mold recipes. :) I do like the current way that research is distributed across all specializations, and everyone should be aware of how their bit fits into the big picture. It gets a bit weird when that awareness is lacking.
This seems like a really good idea! It probably needs a bit more thought however on a few more details on how it would work. Could you perhaps dive deeper into specifics? Maybe just take dendrology only as an example for now. What/how would the Dendrology Librarian do at their "library store"? What materials? What upgrades? From whom?
Thad Guidry As it is now, only a miner can put labor in research papers for geology. With a librarian as specialty, you'd be able to put librarian labor in any research and research papers. And the skill scrolls would be in one shop. I see players dedicated from day 1, putting workorder board up and spam it with research paper orders to get things going. Those people would gladly spend a star on Librarian and do all that without the workorder board.
Hello, i have little diferent idea :) https://eco.canny.io/feature-suggestions/p/library-publisher
