I think the devs should add a trade hub building owned directly by a town
With a trade fee and rules for everything done on it. Then players can choose if they want the lower prices and more freedom of buying from trade stalls or the higher prices at an exchange.

You could easily build that yourself. Once a town is founded, grab a town stake, plop it down and just build a shop + stockpiles all around it. Put the claim to be owned by the mayor and access to any citizens.
