I totally agree with this idea
7 days to die has a decent and simple way to add stability, maybe it's easier to implement
I add the same thing in mind, thank you for the idea :) It should be possible to code it with every kind of building block having a maximum stability value they can support, and a weight (how much stability it cost to the supporting block). Trying to add a block with weight exceeding maximum stability would be blocked by the game, and trying to remove a supporting block also ! A nice side-effect could be to have to put props in underground mines to support the roof in large cavities. If we want more realistic building, glass for example could have a really low maximum stability so you are not allowed to build a glass bridge. Also shapes could differ in stability and weight: hewn logs cordages and sticks shapes would have very low stability and weight, and hewn log floor high weight and high stability (it would prevent making a cordage house with stone roof). And roofs shapes should prevent to build non-roof blocks on top of them, but should be allowed on the top of other blocks without restriction, so you could always finish your projects with a nice roof (no support, no weight)
I agree with this 110%. Flammentrieb. I also think your comment above about certain materials should not be able to have skyscrapers. A lot of early structures just look hideous as way. This idea would certainly add better looking worlds, while adding stability. Now if only we could remove insane windmill farms and vertical integrated sky farms, eco might gain some actually good looking builds lol
vertically the stability could also decrease with each block (but in a lower rate than horizontally) to prevent sky scrapers made out of hewn logs
Flammentrieb Great idea, maybe separate the count between horizontal and vertical stability. For example hewn logs could support 4 hanging blocks horizontally, and have a maximum of 8 blocks above them (but you could have hanging blocks on the top).
I on the other hand love the creativity, but I will admit abjusing the physic to have floating stockpiles is too much....
