A “sifting” profession

Lasers now require extremely rare diamonds. Miners can no longer turn crushed sandstone into sand, this is now the “sifters” role. Sifters can use the already in use rocker boxes or a new “sluice” to procure diamonds for lasers, quarts for glass(not sand anymore), and iron ore. Grey sand (granite sand) can be used to sift for copper ore, gemstone (used to make new rings such as ring of luck for sifter), and something for new chemistry profession. Sulfur? Sifters need to be near water to operate. Sifters also have the ability to turn unwanted dirt into clay… but at a very high calorie cost and a poor diet to clay ratio. Also need water for this. Sifter can also provide a boost to yield for grains agriculture, but is not needed for the production chain, does not need water for this role. Sifters can also sift crushed limestone into a powder, in which the chemist can make borax to increase glass production efficiency, but again is not required for the production chain. Lastly, sifters find lodestone in normal sand, which is sold to the engineer to make a compass, which is sold to the shipwright for ships.
